Not every solar project starts from scratch. This Daisy Hill home already had panels on the roof, but the system was sized for a different set of needs, and most of the power it produced was being exported to the grid for very little in return. This homeowner in Daisy Hill already had solar panels on the roof, but rising power bills told a familiar story. The existing system generated power during the day, yet most of that power went straight back to the grid for a feed in tariff that barely made a dent in the bill. After assessing the existing array and the roof structure, the team recommended 14 additional Jinko Solar panels, each rated at 475 watts, installed on the northern side of the roof to work alongside the existing system. This gave the property a combined system large enough to justify a serious battery, without paying for capacity the household would never use.
A GoodWe 9.999kW hybrid inverter was chosen to manage the increased solar output and run the battery at the same time. For storage, the team installed a GoodWe lithium battery system in the garage, giving the home more than 21kWh of usable capacity. The battery was set up to be VPP capable, so the homeowner has the option to join a virtual power plant program later if it makes financial sense.

The additional panels, inverter and battery were installed and commissioned by a CEC accredited installer and a licensed electrician. On the day, the team tested the full system, checked the switchboard and existing wiring, and confirmed the installation met current AS/NZS standards for both the solar and battery components.
An electrical safety certificate was issued two days after installation, confirming the system was tested and compliant. The team also managed the Small scale Technology Certificate paperwork on the homeowner's behalf, so there was no separate process left for the homeowner to chase up.
